“Out of left field, you’re thrown a curved ball. You didn’t see that one coming.”

“Being proposed to at a baseball game can seem like a good idea to the one doing the proposing.  But to everyone else that has to witness the moment, they are privately wishing they did it somewhere else.

Asking someone to marry you at a baseball game is not only impersonal, it is also a moment that can be most embarrassing if the person turns you down.  There you are on the big screen, for all the world to see.  The bride to be is most likely caught off guard, and most likely already upset that she is at a baseball game.  The only reason she came is to be supportive of something you like and now she is being proposed to in front of everyone.  The whole time up until that moment, she was planning on breaking up with you directly after.  

When she agreed to come to the baseball game with you, most likely she didn’t dress her best, or even good enough to be put up on a monitor to be made a spectacle of.  Just the opposite; she dressed in an ordinary fashion choice to blend in with your beer-belching crowd.  Now wearing the baseball cap that you insisted on, her hair is a mess and while you are proposing, she can only think of how awful she looks.  

Being proposed to at a baseball game can be the greatest moment in both of your lives.  It can be the moment that is always treasured because she loves you enough to put her vanity aside and appreciate that you asked in the first place.  However, just in case your girlfriend is not that gracious, please do not ruin everyone else’s day by making them watch her squirm in her seat.”
